The vision of Casa Llanta is twofold:
educate and demonstrate.
Casa Llanta is a logical approach to building in rapidly developing nations such as Nicaragua.
The project employs and educates local community members in the skills of sustainable building. Readily available byproducts are utilized, such as tires and plastic bottles, in conjunction with other local materials.

The aim is to empower local community members and create skills that will foster a healthy independence from economical fluctuations that might affect the basic needs of its members. Its success hopes to demonstrate that the cleanest water comes from the sky and the most reliable energy source is independent.
Through the development of this independent community, Casa Llanta will demonstrate that aside from the obvious securities of living “off grid,” the best development, and consequently the best investment, is one that invests in the local people and community
The Casa Llanta project is located just 5 km south of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Neighboring Costa Rica lies just to the south. The community resides in a valley less than one kilometer off the main road with the closest beach, Playa Hermosa, roughly 2.5 kilometers to the west. |
